WordPress Theme Contest

Hey everyone! I’ve been trying to put together a more official site for my web design services, but I don’t have a whole lot of sites I can show off right now. I am officially doing work part time for the time being, so it’s hard to me to do as much marketing as I really want. The plan is to start off real slow and ramp it up from there. I figured a great way to help out with this problem is to start doing some pro-bono work to get the ball rolling and show off my skills at the same time. I decided to turn to all of my friends on Plurk as the Plurk community is very good at helping each other out and giving back, unlike some other places *cough*Twitter*cough*.

So here are the rules:

• You must be on Plurk.
• It will be a WordPress theme. I can do just about anything, but for various reasons, I want to limit it to WordPress.
• The winner does not have to even keep a link back to me in the theme, but I would absolutely love it if you would.

I will keep the form for entry active for at least the next few days, so make sure you enter right away.

Disclaimers: I am a pretty busy guy so it will take a little while for me, but I want you to have a completely custom theme. We will work together to make sure you have something you think is absolutely great.

Hitting the Wall

Here is a question I poise to all of the designers out there, and not just web or graphic designers. What do you do when you have seemed to hit a wall or block?

I ended up making 3 different mock-ups tonight in Photoshop and basically, I hated them all. I’m trying to do something fresh for the next theme of this website. I become so critical of my own work.

So I pose a question, what do you guys all do when the same thing happens to you?

Why is it so easy to find crappy sites when ones like this exist?

With the sheer amount of time I spend on the internet, I am pretty darn sure there is no resource for web design I haven’t come across. A found an absolute gem this morning at Blog Design Blog. This site is an absolute goldmine!
