Looking Back on the Social Media Love-In

Posted: July 25th, 2008 | Author: Patrick | Filed under: Social Media | Tags: , , , , , |

Earlier in the week, Problogger had we he called a “Social Media Love-In“. A lot of Problogger’s readers are all cut from the same cloth, so we all exchanged addresses for our social media websites. I knew I would find some new friends and some new blogs, but a few days later, it’s obvious it is more than that.

Once all of the entries were in, they were combined and the site is dispersing them service by service. I gained almost one hundred new Twitter followers and i’m now following over 100 from the love-in. On Plurk, I gained about 50 friends. I was out and about for most of the past few days, so I am still adding new followers and following new people.

One of the things that always bugged me about some social sites is that we have tendencies to only add people we already read, or listen to, etc. The Love-In was a fantastic ice breaker to get to know people and friends we may never have found any other way. I’m sure you will be seeing plenty of blogs and software and more just from myself sharing it with you guys. I am also hoping to gain a large amount of new readers as well.

Darren from Problogger said he would have another round at some point, so make sure you stay tuned to Problogger. It is something you should definitely participate in next time around.
