Inside the Revision3 DDoS Attack

logo_internal As I am sure a good deal of the readers of this blog are aware, Revision3.com is a fantastic mostly tech-centric internet television network. Over the Memorial Day holiday, they had a Denial of Service attack. For the best few days, everyone has been scratching their heads trying to figure out who would target them and who would have the hardware to do it.

Basically, a company called MediaDefender was behind the attack. They are basically a puppet of the recording industry. Has the recording industry actually sank this low as to deal with companies like this? What they did was that they were annoyed Revision3 was distributing material over BitTorrent. So what is the problem? Revision3 is using it to distribute its shows that it owns the rights to. Unlike a vast majority of BitTorrent traffic, it is completely legal to distribute, hell, its their business!
