Microsoft walks away with its tail between its legs

Well, it’s over now. Microsoft has dropped its bid to acquire Yahoo. Thank <your deity here>. Here’s my thoughts on this:

  • Microsoft has a completely different corporate culture than Yahoo. Yahoo is (for the most part) much more of an open-source bred company. People who believe in open-source ideals are typically worlds away from what Microsoft stands for.
  • Microsoft would need a lot more than Yahoo to become competitive against Google. Microsoft still believes in old-school boxed software, despite the recent announcement of Mesh.

I am not a Microsoft hater by any means. We would not be where we are at today if not for Microsoft. I run Microsoft Windows XP more often than any other operating system (Ubuntu: Let me use Compiz and dual-screen with an ATI X300 and I will never use anything else!). However, I think Microsoft is finally losing its touch. ballmer

Bonus: This video captures the things I find wrong with Microsoft. That man is who is running Microsoft now.

Bonus: More Ballmer nuttiness. WARNING: Slightly overweight middle-aged man sweating at a Microsoft event alert. Don’t say I didn’t warn you.

Bonus: Scared much Steve?
