Hitting the Wall
Posted: July 30th, 2008 | Author: Patrick | Filed under: Design | Tags: Design, Photoshop |Here is a question I poise to all of the designers out there, and not just web or graphic designers. What do you do when you have seemed to hit a wall or block?
I ended up making 3 different mock-ups tonight in Photoshop and basically, I hated them all. I’m trying to do something fresh for the next theme of this website. I become so critical of my own work.
So I pose a question, what do you guys all do when the same thing happens to you?

When I hit the wall on my projects, typically I take a some time away from the project so I can re-focus.
I catch up on some of the menial tasks I have in my office and then I come back to it in a day or two.
I have learned that I am more critical of my own work than I am anyone else’s. There are many times I write or design something, or multiple things, and end up despising them all thinking they are too under par for what I was going for. So I got to the point of just sharing these things with others, that way I could get some objective feedback. It turns many of them were much better than I thought they were and were well received.
