Hey everyone! I’ve been trying to put together a more official site for my web design services, but I don’t have a whole lot of sites I can show off right now. I am officially doing work part time for the time being, so it’s hard to me to do as much marketing as I really want. The plan is to start off real slow and ramp it up from there. I figured a great way to help out with this problem is to start doing some pro-bono work to get the ball rolling and show off my skills at the same time. I decided to turn to all of my friends on Plurk as the Plurk community is very good at helping each other out and giving back, unlike some other places *cough*Twitter*cough*.
So here are the rules:
- You must be on Plurk.
- It will be a WordPress theme. I can do just about anything, but for various reasons, I want to limit it to WordPress.
- The winner does not have to even keep a link back to me in the theme, but I would absolutely love it if you would.
I will keep the form for entry active for at least the next few days, so make sure you enter right away.

Disclaimers: I am a pretty busy guy so it will take a little while for me, but I want you to have a completely custom theme. We will work together to make sure you have something you think is absolutely great.

Hack WordPress has a fantastic tutorial about how to implement the Sliding Doors technique with WordPress. It is one of those little things that can really breathe some life and a more organic feel to your blog.

Well, I’ve just have some testing to do later tonight on it, but hopefully by tomorrow I will have the new design for the site up. I did it completely from scratch, and I am sort of using it as a holdover theme. I have a really sweet design I have been sketching out but I don’t feel like starting on it quite yet, so I will let this other design be used for a while as I design the new one.

After what’s been months, the WordPress Theme Viewer has been updated to look and work just like the rest of WordPress.org. When I get some free time, I will go back and edit a few small things on my themes as they changed the guidelines for acceptance a little bit. Once the themes are ready, I will add mine to the viewer.

WPCandy has a fantastic starter them available for download. If you are just starting, it’s much leaner so you can really see what WordPress is doing a little easier.

I just released the beta for my new theme, Greybar. This one is very simple and very light. Once again, you can download it at the Themes page or at the bottom of this post. You can also take a look at the theme at the Theme Viewer.

There is plenty going on behind the scenes here at blackleafmedia.com. I’ve worked up some more WordPress tutorials, I just need to go back and edit them a little bit.
One tutorial I am really excited about is where I show you my workflow for working on WordPress themes. I am interested in seeing how other people go about it. I am pretty particular in my setup of my software, etc. There is always room to streamline any sort of workflow.
