Comcast is already considered one of the worst ISP’s in the country, if not the world, and yet another move moves them to the bottom of the barrel for me.
Starting at the beginning of October, the will limit their users to consuming 250GB of data a month. If a user goes over that cap, a lackey from “Customer Security Assurance” will give them a ring and let them know that an unlimited plan really isn’t unlimited. Twice in sixth months, you better find a new ISP.
I understand that 250GB is much more than what the average consumer will use. However, I am not an average user. I stream a few Netflix movies a month, a download a decent amount of music, listen to a lot of podcasts, and I watch tons of live video from Leo Laporte’s TWiT.tv network. I would definitely go over that 250GB cap every single month.
I also understand that it is a move to ensure network availability for everyone. But very few users consume as much data as I do to have a serious effect on the network. If I am wrong about that, then their network needs some serious upgrading done.
No matter what way you look at it, Comcast has the wrong idea.

Well, it’s always nice to know the government is so secure about using our personal information. Like how an outside contractor that runs one of the “trusted traveler” fast-passes at airports has lost the laptop containing 33,000 users of the Clear system.
It is just absolutely disgusting about how you would THINK you could trust a situation like this, but it is obvious that we can’t. It is sad that you have to pay even more a year just for the right to get on the airplane just a little bit easier.
The other thing I can’t help but think about is why it was stored on a laptop in the first place. Anything like that should be residing on a secure server, or at least something that can’t be swiped easily.

One of the amazing things about the Internet is the proliferation of free software available, from programming languages to desktop software. On the flip side, one of the many dangers of having so much software available is that a lot of it is just not up to snuff, for many reasons. One of the most overlooked aspects of software security is cross-site scripting, or XSS.

Last night, the SpaceX corporation hit another milestone by launching yet another rocket. The rocket did not properly separate itself between it’s stages; however anytime they get a rocket off the ground is a step forward. I have heard a great deal of criticism about this, but you have to stop and think about how many times NASA failed until they got most of the bugs worked out. SpaceX is doing this on what amounts to a shoestring budget and a skeleton crew!
